This week’s submission for Travel Photo Thursday was taken at the Topkapı Palace in Istanbul, Turkey. I loved the colors and patterns on this exterior tiled wall, looking up toward the eaves of the roof. The Topkapı Palace was constructed between 1466 and 1478 for Sultan Mehmet II and served as the was the primary residence of the Ottoman Sultans for nearly 400 years. The palace complex is located on a strategic promontory overlooking the Golden Horn, Sea of Marmara, and the Bosporus Straight. It’s definitely a “must see” for all tourists to Istanbul!
