Thailand

Thailand is one of our most popular destinations. Below is a great itinerary that splits time between Bangkok and Chiang Mai in the north (the cultural heart of Thailand) and Krabi in the south (gorgeous, pristine beaches). This is fully customizable so we can add other cities in Thailand such as Chiang Rai, Koh Samui, or Phuket, too. Or add on an extension to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat at Siem Reap!

Other popular places in Southeast Asia we specialize in include Vietnam, Indonesia (including Bali), Laos, Malaysia, and Singapore. Ask for more details!

DAY 1:

Arrival in Bangkok

After clearing Customs and Immigration, a representative will meet you and will drive you to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 2:

Start the day visiting two of the most impressive sights in the city. The Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho is an enormous Buddha covered in gold leaf and lying majestically on its side. The Grand Palace has no equal and is a must-see for every visitor to Bangkok. Built by King Rama I in 1782 it was the centre of power for more than 150 years; today it is Bangkok’s most celebrated landmark. Within the compound is the Temple of The Emerald Buddha – Wat Pra Kaew – which houses Thailand’s most precious image of the Lord Buddha. Lunch will be served in a Thai restaurant. Next, travel along the picturesque Chao Phraya River and through the klongs (canals) of Thonburi. Observe and photograph the serene family homes and temples along the waterways which gave the city the name Venice of the East. Finally, pay a visit to one of the city’s most photographed sites, the shimmering Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). The majestic shrine has a pagoda of 76 m high. It is decorated with glazed ceramic pieces that reflect the sun’s rays and give the temple its name.

DAY 3:

Flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai

After checking in to your hotel, enjoy a City and Temple Tour. Visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, the sacred temple with the challenging flight of steps flanked by Naga Serpents. Continue to Wat Chedi Luang, the site of a formerly massive pagoda that was unfortunately destroyed in the great earthquake of 1545, yet still retains a unique shape. Afterwards, visit Wat Phra Singh, which includes the lovely Lai Kam chapel housing the revered Phra Singh Buddha image.

After the morning activities finally have an opportunity to cook delectable Thai cuisine. Each dishes creation will be demonstrated by the teachers who all speak excellent English. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 5:

Elephant Sanctuary – Let’s spend a day learning how to look after elephants. But first, we need to look the part, so let’s change into the clothes of the mahout. We’ll learn how to feed, interact and play with the elephants in their natural home. Together we’ll walk to the river, where we get to join them in the water and in a messy but very therapeutic mud spa! We can take plenty of photos and just enjoy watching the elephants living a natural and stress free life.
