Amsterdam is one of the most picturesque cities in all of Europe. With its serene canals, historic gabled buildings, and elaborate church spires poking high above it all, you’re sure to catch that perfect photo. One of the best places is along Groenburgwal Canal. This shot shows the Zuiderkerk (“Southern Church”), a 17th Century Protestant church located in the Nieuwmarkt neighborhood. It was designed in the Amsterdam Renaissance style by architect Hendrick de Keyser and constructed between 1603 and 1611. The Zuiderkerk was a place of worship until 1929 but has been a city information and art exhibition center since 1988.
Amsterdam is a great place for outdoor activities like boating and cycling. In fact, it’s estimated that there are over 700,000 bicycles in the city!
