I can’t believe it’s time for “Where in the world am I?” again! Last week’s photo proved a bit challenging, but with a little research, Cathy Sweeney from Traveling With Sweeney got it right. Here are some clues for this week’s photo: No, it’s not a spaceship or something Dr. Seuss dreamt up. The architect who designed it is also responsible for adding the most famous building to the skyline of the City by the Bay too. Any guesses where this photo was taken?
One winner will be selected from those who answer correctly and will be featured on next week’s “Where in the world am I?” contest, on my Facebook fan page and on Twitter with his/her name, blog, twitter, as well as a brief bio!

The answer & winner for this week’s “Where in the world am I?”
Wow—several people got it right this week! I should have known that Google would make it easy. However, Debbie Beardsley of European Travelista was the first to get it right. The correct answer is the Geisel Library at the University of California, San Diego (which is also my alma mater.) Formerly known as Central Library, it was re-named after Dr. Seuss himself, Theodore Geisel, in 1995. Architect William Pereira designed the iconic building in the late 1960s, but his most famous work is probably the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco. When I took this photo last weekend it brought back fond memories of college. I spent many days (and nights) studying at the library and have always loved it. See below for some more photos of this amazing building.
Debbie shares her love of Europe on her blog, European Travelista. Through her writing and photography, you’ll find inspiration for your next adventure, relive a prior trip or just dream about travel. Be sure check out her Facebook page and follow her on Twitter too!
Thanks to everyone for playing! I’m looking forward to doing this again next week!

Here was last week’s photo, correctly identified by Cathy Sweeney of Traveling With Sweeney. I took this picture in front of the Sé Cathedral in Angra do Heroísmo. Angra is the capital city on the island of Terceira in the Azores, Portugal.
