Jeremy at Budget Travel Adventures started a fun new series called “Where in the world am I?” where he posts a mystery photo every Wednesday and asks his readers to guess where it was taken. He’s invited other travel bloggers to take part as well, so here’s my first entry!
Here are some clues about this city:
I promise this isn’t a lie, Carlo Collodi was born here. It was also the site of the infamous “Bonfire of the Vanities” and was conquered by (my ancestor*) Charlemagne back in 774. Here’s a final clue: I mentioned it in my most recent “Snapshot.”
One winner will be selected among those who answered correctly and will be featured on next week’s “Where in the world am I?”, my Facebook fan page, and Twitter with their name, blog, twitter, along with a brief bio! If you aren’t a part of any of these, you can still share your answers on Facebook or in the comments to get recognized!
Please note: Moderation is turned on for this contest and comments will need to be approved before they are posted. No need to resubmit your comment. I don’t want people stealing other people’s answers but trust me – I am getting your comments!
* It’s true! My uncle has traced our family genealogy back to the Middle Ages and discovered that we’re descendants of Charlemagne (among other famous historical figures!)

The answer & winner for this week’s “Where in the world am I?”
I must have a lot of world travelers reading my blog, because just about everyone got the correct answer of Florence, Italy! I think I’ll have to make it harder next week! Congratulations to Jeremy Branham, the originator of the “Where in the world am I?” series, for being the first one to answer correctly! Also, I’m going to give a shout out to Jenna Francisco for being the first person with the most complete answer—the Piazza della Repubblica in Florence, Italy!
Thanks to everyone for playing along. Next week I’ll make it a little more challenging 😉
Jeremy writes the popular and fast-growing travel blog, Budget Travel Adventures where he teaches you how to “travel passionately, spend wisely, and experience more!” He’s based in Sacramento, California and enjoys traveling with his wife and two sons. Check him out on Facebook at Twitter too!
Jenna is the author of This Is My Happiness and also lives in Sacramento. She’s passionate about traveling, art, culture and the ordinary details of life. (She actually studied abroad in Florence, Italy…no wonder she got the answer right!) Jenna also writes for the Examiner and be sure to follow her on Twitter too!
Be sure to check out Jeremy and Jenna’s blogs for yourself! I’m looking forward to doing this again next week!
