Here’s a quick update on how the pastéis de nata turned out…
Their flavor was actually really good, especially the custard filling with its faint notes of vanilla and lemon. Unfortunately, the crusts were kind of doughy–definitely not “light and flaky” like I remembered them being in Portugal. Over all, I’m glad I made them but it really wasn’t worth the 2+ hours it took to do so. I suppose I’ll have to travel back to Portugal to get the real thing now!
