About

Me!

Michael Figueiredo is a freelance travel writer based in Los Angeles, California. When he’s not gallivanting around the world, he’s enjoying the laid-back lifestyle and perfect weather of Southern California. So far he’s visited thirty-six countries and territories on five continents. His goal is to see at least one new country every year. This summer he will be ticking a box on his “bucket list” when he witnesses the majesty of Machu Picchu, Peru.

After graduating from the University of California, San Diego, Michael did what so many others do—he bought a Eurail Pass and backpacked across Europe. His three-month long adventure was a truly life-changing experience for him. Ever since then he’s had an insatiable passion for traveling, learning about other cultures, geography and world history.

The StruxTravel blog is a medium for Michael to share his personal perspectives on destinations, exhibit his photography and offer travel tips from his adventures around the globe. Besides his travel blog, Michael is on the lookout to write for national newspapers and magazines, as well as being an L.A. City Guide Examiner where he writes about subjects a little closer to home. He’s currently taking Portuguese language lessons as well as courses at West Los Angeles College in their Travel and Hospitality program. Michael recently fulfilled his dream of opening his own travel agency, further expanding the StruxTravel brand. Click on the “Agency” tab at the top of this webpage to find great deals on flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises and much more!

Michael lives by the words of St. Augustine who famously said, “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” Feel free to comment on any of the posts on StruxTravel, or contact Michael directly by visiting the “Contact” tab on the home page.
