About

Me!

Michael Figueiredo is a freelance travel writer based in Los Angeles, California. When he’s not gallivanting around the world, he’s enjoying the laid-back lifestyle and perfect weather of Southern California. So far he’s visited thirty-six countries and territories on five continents. Most recently he traveled to Italy, Croatia, and Turkey with day trips to Montenegro and San Marino. His goal is to see at least one new country every year!

After graduating from the University of California, San Diego, Michael did what so many others do—he bought a Eurail Pass and backpacked across Europe. His three-month long adventure was truly a life changing experience. Ever since then he’s had an insatiable passion for traveling, learning about other cultures, geography, and world history.

StruxTravel is a medium for Michael to share his personal perspectives on destinations, exhibit his photography, and offer travel tips from his adventures. Besides this blog, he’s also in the process of selling travel articles to national newspapers and magazines, as well as being the L.A. City Guide Examiner, where he writes about subjects a little closer to home. He’s currently taking Portuguese language lessons and classes to open his own web-based travel agency. Stay tuned for more details!

Michael lives by the words of St. Augustine who famously said, “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” Feel free to comment on any of the posts on StruxTravel, or contact Michael directly by visiting the “Contact” tab on the home page.
