Greetings From… San Diego, California

While strolling along the harbor in downtown San Diego I came across Unconditional Surrender, a 25-foot tall statue by artist J. Seward Johnson. His work is an interpretation of the famous Alfred Eisenstaedt photograph taken during the V-J Day celebrations in Times Square in 1945. Located in a small park next to the USS Midway aircraft carrier, it was difficult to get a clear shot, since happy couples were lining up to strike the same pose.

Here is the original photo by Eisenstaedt as well as another by me. With two tourists posing in front of the sculpture, you can really see its scale!
