Travel Photo Thursday: High School for the Visual and Performing Arts, Los Angeles

As you drive on the Hollywood Freeway heading toward downtown Los Angeles, you’re sure to notice this odd building on your left. Nicknamed “Buck Rogers” High School, the futuristic-looking complex actually houses the High School for the Visual and Performing Arts. Designed by Austrian architect Coop Himmelblau, the $180 million facility opened in the fall of 2009 and has fast become one of L.A.’s newest landmarks. It’s been featured in several commercials, films and magazine shoots, including last summer’s blockbuster, Iron Man 2. What do you think about this building? Could you imagine taking classes here?
