The Hotel del Coronado
The quintessential American beach hotel, the Hotel del Coronado enjoys an idyllic location on the sandy shores of Coronado, just across the bay from downtown San Diego. Built back in 1888, the Hotel Del is a Victorian architectural marvel. It was the largest resort hotel in the world when it opened, as well as the first hotel to have electric lighting. Known the world over for its unsurpassed luxury, you never know who will be staying under its distinctive red turreted roofs. Presidents, royalty, and celebrities have all been pampered here over the years. For those of us “normal folks,” I suggest grabbing lunch or a cocktail at their casual beachfront restaurant, Sheerwater. Then, sit back, relax, and watch the sun slowly set into the Pacific.

I love the architecture at Hotel Del! It’s a little expensive to stay there, but a great place to take photos! I’ve seen some great wedding photography taken there.

I think I’ve seen this hotel in some tv series (Baywatch I think) and I thought it was really cool… plus it was haunted. lol
Haha…yeah, it probably was in Baywatch at some point. It was also in the classic “Some Like It Hot” with Marilyn Monroe. (And yes, it is supposedly haunted!)

I love The Del, but the best part of Coronado is the beach! I’ve never seen sand anywhere else with those gold flicks in it…. just gorgeous!
If I am going to rate Hotel Del Coronado from 1 to 10, I will give it a 10 because the service of the hotel is above satisfactory and the location is amazing for a beach party. It will surely be an enjoyable experience to spend a vacation in Hotel Del Coronado.
