Bixby Creek Bridge, Big Sur, California
One of the most iconic images of California, the Bixby Creek Bridge in Big Sur is a sight to behold. Its graceful concrete structure nicely complements the scenic vistas along California’s rugged central coast. Located between San Simeon and Carmel, this section of Highway 1 is loaded with hairpin turns making for a very slow journey. But what’s the rush? It’s one of the most gorgeous drives in the world—relax and enjoy it!

Very nice pic of Bixby Creek Bridge and the Big Sur area. I recently took the drive from San Francisco to San Simeon. There are breathtaking views at many points along the way.
Thanks Cathy! It is definitely a drive that everyone should do once in his or her life.
I completely agree that this is a drive everyone should do in their lifetime! Big Sur has so much to offer. Nice shot of the Bixby Bridge. We passed by that part of the Hwy at dusk, so I wasn’t able to get a shot of it. I think I read that this is the 3rd most photographed Bridge.
The water looks exceptionally blue in this pic too! I hope to camp in Big Sur next summer right on the river and in the middle of the redwoods. You can tube down the river too!
I find excitement in this beautiful place. If I am standing on that bridge, I would definitely go bungee jumping. I would love to, but I think this is not allowed. If ever I will have the chance, I will be happy to do it.
